Gorgeous, Unique Antique Czech Necklace Pendant of Butterfly with an Art Deco Woman's Face and Huge Ruby Glass Cabochons. This beautiful, elaborate glass and brass necklace is from a collection of 1920's Czech fancy dress costume jewelry. The necklace has a drop of 12 inches (length of 24 inches) including a 3 ½ inch pendant. Please see photos: it is difficult to create a picture of this necklace in words. The necklace consists of brass-linked ruby red round glass beads with three faceted 1 ¼ inch bezel-set deep red cabochons, with a pendant below.
The brass 2 ½ inch wide pendant depicts a three-dimensional Art Deco style portrait of a woman superimposed upon a butterfly. The woman is looking upward. Above this is lovely brass scrollwork (see photos) with ten small white rhinestones on each side.
Below the portrait there are five red glass dangle pendants with brass bead caps and gold-tone and black accent beads. The clasp is the original gold-tone spring-ring clasp; it functions well.
Flaws: some of the fine details of the butterfly and the woman's face have been blurred by time and touching. The middle pendant of the five dangles ends in a jump ring, which suggests that there may originally have been an additional bead or pendant there. Because this is in the middle, it does not impair the look of the necklace. No other glass elements or rhinestones are missing. None are scratched, chipped, cracked, or broken. The metal elements have no dents, scratches, cracks or breaks. This is a unique and beautiful antique necklace which is in very good condition for its age.
