Before the explosion of the premium denim market throughout the early 2000s, there was Levi's RED. First launched in 1999, Levi's RED is a concept collection by Levi Strauss and Co. Reinventing its iconic 5-pocket jean, RED proposes new forms and aesthetics, as seen in key pieces from the debut collection,'Twisted Red', which has been resurrected as part of LN-CC ongoing archive series. The seminal collection paved the way for interesting denim innovations throughout the last decade - twentieth anniversary.

Levi's RED collection was originally launched in 1999 and, back then, was all about rethinking the company's five-pocket jeans - and finding new ways to work with denim. Taking innovation a step further, Levi's tapped a Japanese denim guru who, after seven months of testing and adjustments, created the ultimate fabric made from Japanese rigid red selvage denim.

Exaggerated proportions are visible even in minor details such as oversized Red tab labels, elongated pockets and elaborate stitching. We deconstructed a traditional style and reinterpreted every aspect of the construction, driving it into different volumes, shapes and proportions in every single way.
